Meet Ryanne
Ryanne Woolford is a Licensed School Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (formerly College of Psychologists of BC) holding a MSc in Child and Educational Psychology, a MA in Developmental Psychology, and BC teacher certification. She has extensive experience providing psycho-educational assessments for children, teens, and young adults with a wide range of developmental and educational needs.
Ryanne has over 20 years of experience supporting children and families. She has worked in the fields of psychology and education including teaching, special education, and as a school psychologist in BC and the UK. She has supported children, parents, and eduators, in public schools, independent schools, and private psychology clinics.
Ryanne has considerable experience providing comprehensive assessments and educational recommendations for children with a wide range of educational needs. Her special interest is in providing assessment, consultation, and support for gifted children and their families. Ryanne has a deep understanding, both personally and professionally, of the unique experiences and challenges faced by gifted children and their parents.
Assessment Services
- Psycho-Educational Assessment: A "PsychEd" assessment may be recommended for a variety of reasons, most often when a student is struggling in some way at school. A child may be experiencing learning or behavioural difficulties, show signs of giftedness, or need support at school. A PsychEd includes a comprehensive assessment of your child's cognitive abilities and academic skills to determine their unique profile as a learner. A consultant Registered Psychologist is available for diagnostic considerations when needed. Parents are provided with a detalied report that guides planning for their child at home and at school.
- Gifted Assessment: Identification of giftedness can be an important step towards appropriate educational planning for your child. At Zenith, a gifted assessment is tailored to identify your child's unique learning profile. It includes comprehensive assessment of cognitive ability (IQ testing) and academic achievement, providing recommendations for supporting your child at home and at school. Importantly, this information helps your child's school determine eligibility for designation as a gifted learner and an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Support Services
- Consultation: Additional consultation may be provided following a PsychEd or gifted assessment or as a stand-alone service. The goals of consultation vary, but may include guidance and support for parents in regards to:
- educational decision-making
- advocating for your child's educational needs
- liaising with your child's educators to support understanding of assessment results and educational recommendations.
- Child Feedback: Students benefit from understanding their learning profile and how their strengths and stretches impact them in their daily life. Understanding 'labels' may be one important component of a child feedback session. A child feedback session can also help your child with self-understanding, knowledge of appropriate strategies and supports, and goal setting.
