About Zenith School Psychology Services
Meet Ryanne
Ryanne Woolford is a School Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC holding an MSc in Child and Educational Psychology, an MA in Developmental Psychology, and BC teacher certification. She has over 20 years of experience providing assessments for children, teens and young adults.
Ryanne has worked in the fields of psychology and education including teaching, special education, and as a school psychologist, in BC and the UK. She has supported children, parents, and educators, in public schools, independent schools, and private psychology clinics.
Ryanne has a special interest in providing assessment, consultation, and support for gifted children and their families. Ryanne has a deep understanding, both personally and professionally, of the unique experiences and challenges
faced by gifted children and their parents.
Assessment Services
- Educational Assessment: An educational achievement assessment focuses on your child's skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. This option is a good 'first step' to gain a deeper understanding of your child's academic strengths and weaknesses.
- Psycho-Educational Assessment: A "PsychEd" is a comprehensive assessment of your child's cognitive abilities (IQ assessment), academic skills, and social, emotional, and behavioural functioning, to determine their unique profile as a learner. Parents are provided with recommendations and a detailed report that guides planning for their child at home and at school.
- Gifted Assessment: Identification of giftedness can be an important step towards appropriate educational planning for your child. This assessment is similar to a PsychEd assessment but focuses on a comprehensive assessment of cognitive abilities and above-level testing for academic skills. This helps your child's school determine eligibility for a Ministry of Education Designation (Gifted) and Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Support Services
- Consultation: Additional consultation may be provided following a PsychEd or Gifted Assessment or as a stand-alone service. The goals of consultation vary, but may include guidance and support for parents in regards to:
- Educational decision-making
- Advocating for your child's educational needs
- Working with your child's educators to support understanding of assessment results and educational recommendations.
- Child Feedback: Students benefit from understanding their learning profile and how their strengths and stretches impact them in their daily life. Understanding 'labels' may be one important component of a child feedback session. A child feedback session may also help your child with self-understanding, knowledge of appropriate strategies and supports, and goal setting.
